So, we've got a bit of a winter storm going on in Seattle. I go to check out channel 13's website, and amidst the WINTER STORM UPDATES and gridlock due to snow and ice videos, an ad to prevent global warming. What the Fuck?

Dr. Pepper, Axl Rose & Chinese Democracy. Oh My!

Dr. Pepper isn't the plastic surgeon who lost a malpractice suit for botching Axl Rose's facelift. Turns out Dr. Pepper is a soda-pop.

Still, Dr Pepper is making good on a promise to provide every person in America a can of the soft drink if Guns N' Roses' “Chinese Democracy” were to arrive in 2008, and has revealed details of the plan.
“We never thought this day would come,” Dr Pepper Vice President of Marketing Tony Jacobs said Wednesday. “But now that it’s here all we can say is: The Dr Pepper’s on us.”

Interested fans are being asked to visit DrPepper.com (http://www.drpepper.com/) on Nov. 23, the day “Chinese Democracy” is released in the U.S. exclusively via Best Buy. After registering online, fans will receive a coupon redeemable for a 20-ounce Dr Pepper wherever the drink is sold.

The twist: The coupon is available for only 24 hours and will expire on Feb. 28.

"Chinese Democracy" is the album Guns N' Roses started writing & recording in 1994 (when Guns N' Roses was still Guns N' Roses). Axl Rose has used a revolving-door lineup of musicians to record and tour promoting the album since the Clinton administration.

The first single from "Chinese Democracy" - the title track - is now available on iTunes. Many tracks surfaced on the internet earlier. Frankie's had a listen, and they're not any worse then the Chris Cornell / Timbaland fiasco.

Chris Cornell + Timbaland = What The Fuck?!

Okay, it's been a week and a half and I'm ready to comment on the VERIZON WIRELESS presents Chris Cornell w/Timbaland at The Showbox Sodo presented by VERIZON WIRELESS. Did I mention VERIZON WIRELESS sponsored this. The wireless carrier, VERIZON WIRELESS didn't want you to forget who was the show's sponsor, with video screens, backdrops, excessive shoutouts from Timbaland's DJ... Commercialism at its worst.

As for the show - it sucked mightily. Timbaland clearly didn't connect with the audience (though he tried). He actually sang one more Soundgarden song than Cornell did (rattled off a verse from Black Hole Sun).

Cornell took the stage about a half hour late, where he commenced to play the yet-unreleased pile o'crap Timbaland-produced "Scream" album in its entirety. As this was an all-ages show, the stage curfew was midnight. That meant Chris could play only two songs after forcing the audience to hear his new album. Those two songs - not Soundgarden, not Audioslave, not Chris Cornell solo material. Two Temple of the Dog tracks.

I caught Cornell at the Paramount in Seattle last year. Long, amazing setlist.

Everyone I know likes to bitch about politics, about how the country is run. My first question for anyone who complains - "didja vote?". I don't care who the fuck you vote for - if you don't/didn't vote, kindly SHUT THE FUCK UP. You have no say. You don't get to comment. You don't count. I mean, yeah... I think you're a ree-tard if you voted for McCain, but at least you gave a fuck.

My favorite website this year and four years ago has been http://www.electoral-vote.com/ - they take all the recent polling data and put it on a pretty map.

Their final map of the year puts Obama over McCain, 353 electoral votes to 174. Four years ago, Kerry didn't get even close.

I'll be in front to the tube watching election results all evening. I hope to hell this is decided early. Daddy needs his beauty sleep.

BRMC - The Effects of 333

Let me preface my post with this: I loves me some Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Catch their live show, and they're one of the best bands on the circuit today.

That said, maybe I'm just not sophisticated enough for their newest release, "The Effects of 333". Released at 3:33am November 1st (in celebration of Dia de los Muertos), 333 is a 10 track ambient soundscape. In some places, particularly the title track - I'm reminded of someone accidentally dialing me from the cellphone in their trouser pocket. Perhaps I'm just not getting it, but I find this album largely unlistenable. Maybe that's why it's a self-release.

A Complete History of My Sexual Failures

Digging around the top 100 lists on The Pirate Bay, I came across a film called "A Complete History of My Sexual Failures". It's a must-see for any guy who's ever fucked up a relationship.

This movie is reminiscent of "High Fidelity" (where the title character Rob looks up all his old girlfriends). But... it's a documentary. Filmmaker Chris Waitt talks to his exes (and his mom) about his bad luck with women...and his inability to keep a stiffy.

True Blood

When Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" went silent and the picture went black (Sopranos finale, dumbass), I rang up Comcast and cancelled HBO.

Well, that pay-cable mainstay has a new show that may just get me to re-up (rather than just snagging the torrent off The Pirate Bay the day after airing). It's called "True Blood".

It's a vampire drama set in Louisiana (no, not the Anne Rice pussified New Orleans vampires). Vampires have "come out of the coffin" and are a new ethnic minority. This things's all sex and hillbillies and bloodsuckers, tits and teeth, gore and bush, so to speak.

It stars Anna Paquin (Rogue from X-Men) and a cast of mostly unknowns (though Milton from Office Space does play a pretty pathetic dumpy middle-aged gay vampire).

Give it a viewing. It's about 9 episodes in now.

My first post

I guess my ego's finally gotten big enough that I've found it appropriate to start my own blog.

What am I going to talk about and/or post here? Knowing me as I do (and I do know me some me), It'll most likely be pretty random. I waste a lot of time at work and at home surfing the web, and come across some pretty entertaining stuff every now and again. Well, entertaining to me at least.

I'm not an expert on much, but I do have my opinions on a variety of subjects from politics to food to music - so you may see some of that here. I do enjoy photography, so I may post a picture or two from time to time.

Then again, I may get bored of this (very likely) - in which case, this may be my last post.
